❤️ Inspiration: At Home Events ❤️

  • Celebrating might be the very last thing you feel like doing right now, as we pass the ten day mark in lock down. But an at-home ‘event’ could also work wonders to keep spirits up, have some laughs, and take your mind off things for an evening.

Whether it’s a bubble-buddy’s birthday, an anniversary, or just something to look forward to in the weekend when you can’t go out, here are some ideas for parties you can throw at home, no matter how small your bubble is: 🥗 Master Chef Pantry Edition – prolong a trip to the supermarket by one more day, and have a cook off at home. The only rule – you can only use things already in the pantry. See what you can come up with using that bag of lentils, random spice mix and can of beetroot we all have sitting in the cupboard. Points for taste, presentation, and best Gordon Ramsey impersonation.
  • 💃 Get ridiculously dressed up for dinner one night. Ball gowns, suits, and full hair and make up. Set the table properly, light candles, dim the lights, and pretend you’re at your favourite fancy restaurant.
  • 🍺 Do an at-home bar crawl. Each person has a room to create a bar in. They must provide a drink and a snack that fits the theme of the bar. Then have everyone travel the bars together, perhaps starting at Mum’s Mexican bar, for corn chips and tequila, then heading to Dad’s English pub for a pint and some chips.
  • 📝 Have a quiz night, where each player writes a section of questions about themselves. This is a good one to FaceTime friends for, if your bubble is small. See who knows each other’s actual job titles, most played Spotify artist, and primary schools.
  • 🍗 Find a recipe to recreate your fast food favourite at home. Tweak the recipe over the next few weeks, and see how close you can get it to the real thing. Go all out and do the sides as well.
  • 🍷Recreate the Wine and Paint night experience at home. All you need is…well, wine and paint (or pencils, depending on what you have at your disposal). This is another good one to do with friends from a distance. All follow the same tutorial, then compare results.
  • Disclaimer: results will be impacted by the emphasis you choose to put on the wine part of the evening. 🎁 Someone’s birthday coming up? Get them to write their dream birthday list, then challenge your bubble-buddies to create items off the list using materials around the house. Time the challenge, pour a drink, and get creative. Let the gift recipient judge – do they like the matchbox Ferrari, or the designer dress made from old sheets more?
